The strength of the Young Farmers Club movement in Carmarthenshire was again evident at the annual rally, held under ideal conditions at the Nantyci Showground.

Scores of friends and family were present to support and encourage the members as they took part in a range of skill tests and fun competitions.

This was the first rally for recently appointed county organiser Rhodri Lewis of Efailwen who had learned the ropes as an active member of the Hermon club in Pembrokeshire for some ten years.

The previous organiser, Eirios Thomas, who has served the members loyally for very many years remains in office as a part time adviser.

Chair of the federation, Iestyn Davies, expressed his delight at the excellent standards achieved by so many members who, by virtue of their success, qualify to represent the county in national federation challenges and at the Royal Welsh Show in July.

County YFC president Alwyn Davies, added his appreciation of the wonderful sponsorship received and was equally proud of the huge efforts and hard work that members were so willingly prepared to put into the competitions.

This year's chosen federation ambassadors are Gwennan Mair Jones, Dyffryn Tywi and Sion Evans, Llanllwni with their respective deputies, Sian Williams, Llangadog and Aled Thomas, Dyffryn Cothi whose task, over the coming year, will be to promote the YFC movement as widely as possible within the county.

Overall winners of the Senior challenge shield were Llanfynydd club with Penybont as runners-up. There was a closer margin amongst the junior competitors where St Ishmaels were winners of the shield ahead of joint runner-up Llandeilo and Penybont.

The Stockmen competition saw Caryl Howells, Llangadog again worthily win the Aled Howells Memorial trophy whilst Anwen Jones, Llanllwni received the Stockman of the Year award Aled Davies, Llangadog claimed the junior Stockman trophy.

Last years rally winners, Llandovery club, undertook the stewarding during the day.
