Buyers from as far away as New Zealand, Kuwait and Eastern Europe purchased lots using the live online bidding platform i-bidder at a major dispersal sale of tractors, grassland and cultivation equipment, farm implements and machinery near Wrexham.

Conducted by auctioneers Halls, the successful auction at Gerwyn Fechan Farm, Royton, Bangor-on-Dee resulted from a change in farming policy by Mr Stanley Machin. Several other local farmers sold additional lots by special permission.

Leading tractor prices were £77,000 for a Fendt Vario 724, £74,800 for a Fendt Vario 824 and £43,800 for a Fendt Vario 820, while a Merlo Panoramic P40.7 Telehandler sold for £33,600.

There was also a series of excellent prices in the implements and machinery section, including £35,500 for a Pottinger Jumbo 6610 Combine Powermatic forage wagon, £18,800 and £18,000 for two Pichon Muck Master spreaders, £17,000 for a Bulvan Lengerich mixer feeder, £10,600 for a Pottinger Aerosem combination drill, £9,500 for a Pottinger grass tedder made, £9,400 for a Pottinger grass, £9,000 for a McConnel hedgecutter and £8,400 for a Pottinger six-furrow reversible plough.

“It was a very important dispersal sale with all the machinery and vehicles presented to a very high standard, which attracted people to the sale from North Yorkshire to Devon,” said Halls’ director Allen Gittins, manager of the company’s Ellesmere office.

“The fact that we sold lots online to bidders from so many different countries demonstrates the power of i-bidder. The world has become a much smaller place due to Internet technology which allows people around the globe to bid live online during our auctions.

“All the tractors, farm implements and machinery had been regularly serviced and well maintained. Many of the lots had been on the farm since they were purchased as new from the manufacturers. This gave bidders confidence to bid either in person or online.”
