YOUNG farmers from Pembrokeshire returned from Stafford this week with a great collection of results from the National Federation of YFCs competitions day.

Once again a large group of members, trainers and supporters went on tour to Stafford. Teams gave their all in competitions from public speaking to dream machines and mood boards, frisbee, fencing and workshop skills.

The junior public speaking team of Joe Richards, Yori Evans and Mirain James, trained by Katie Davies came first with additional praise for Mirain James who secured the best speaker prize.

The workshop skills team of Caryl Bevan, Rhodri Vaughan, Rhys Bevan and Lawrence Hancock also came first with help from their trainers Hugh Bevan and Harold Warlow.

In the Just a Minute competition the Pembrokeshire team proved they have more than enough to say on all sorts of topics with Tomos Evans, Daniel Morgan, Emily Lloyd and Naomi Nicholas coming second under the guidance of their trainers Dill Williams and Karen Jones.

Mace debating was the challenge for the senior team and Pembrokeshire YFC represented club, county and country ably. Sam Kurtz, Tania Hancock, Josie Lewis and Christina Morgan proved their ability to debate for and against their topics, ending second in the competition.

Angharad Edwards proved she can keep a cool and controlled grasp as chairman, also part of the team, and secured individual success as best overall chairman. Helping them on the road to success was their trainer Helen Hodges helped by Rhiannon James, Karen Jones and Peter Llewellin.

Also in Stafford during a busy weekend for the county, the fencing team competed in baking heat to secure a ninth place finish and the frisbee team competing on Sunday secured a fifth place finish. Tom Bradbury also represented the county in the 'Dream Machines' competition creating a mood board for an agricultural machine of his dreams.
