Award-winning Newtown business Hilltop Honey has become the first honey brand in the UK to be awarded B Corp status.

The Newtown-based business has proved its credentials relating to good governance, worker treatment, community impact, environmental impact and engagement with consumers.

Scott Davies, Managing Director, said: "Being awarded with our B Corp status underlines our long term commitment for being a force for good and not just about profit.

"We’re incredibly proud of what Hilltop has achieved in our journey so far and we promise to keep doing our part to continue being a force for good and make a meaningful impact in the industry.’’

Since launching in 2011, Hilltop Honey says it has been on a mission not just to make award-winning honey but to do it sustainably and safeguard the future and development of the business, the people they employ and the environment.

Household names who are part of the first 1,000 to have achieved B Corp status in the UK include Hilltop Honey, Innocent Drinks, Jojo Maman Bébé, Baringa, Finisterre, Sipsmith and Simplyhealth.

Hilltop Honey says it is committed to use their sweet success as a force for good by challenging standard business practices and championing new sustainable initiatives to help preserve the planet and look after those who need it most by working with local charities, sports teams and food banks.

Nat Jenkins, Project Manager added: "Hilltop has always strived to be a force for good in its community, being a B Corp is a massive milestone in our journey that will ensure we continue to consider our planet, our staff and our community throughout the business.’’
