A cheque of over £7,000 was awarded to Lingen Davies Cancer Appeal outside Welshpool’s Coed-y-Dinas.

On January 30, Coed-y-Dinas welcomed representatives from the charity as part of a handover from money raised by Charlie’s Stores in 2022.

The country and garden store raised over £20,000 across its UK locations in 2022, splitting the money between three charities the company says are close to the heart of its teams, customers and communities.

Welsh Air Ambulance received £8,419 while Midlands Air Ambulance were gifted £4,894.

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, a charity that exists to enhance and improve the situation for local cancer patients, were presented with a cheque of £7,589 by the company’s Welshpool outlet.

A spokesperson for Charlies said: “Once again we are absolutely blown away with the outstanding amount of money donated to charity by our incredibly generous customers and dedicated staff, across all of the Charlies stores in 2022.

“Guest appearances from singing yetis, penguins and reindeer, visits from cute Christmas donkeys and real reindeer all contributed towards the fundraising efforts over the festive season.

“We are also proud to have donated £2 from the sale of every real Christmas tree.

“We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you wonderful people for digging deep, even during these difficult times, to donate so generously and make this possible.”
