A RECENT tractor was held to raise money for a new lifesaving piece of equipment.
Tractors of all types and sizes converged on Newcastle on Clun, on Sunday, July 30, for Martin Watkin’s tractor run held in aid of the Clun & District Defibrillators which is part of the Clun Valley AED Scheme.
The event began at the Garn Farm by kind permission of the Richards family and the tractors embarked on their tour of nearly 30 miles through the back lanes of Shropshire and Montgomeryshire.

Mike Whittal led the procession of tractors down to Newcastle before following Folly Brook up the valley and then turning off to the ridge to Two Crosses.
The procession then headed towards the edge of the Ceri Forest and onto Sarn before winding their way around the winding roads to Llandyssil, onto the outskirts of Montgomery, picking up Kerry Road. They then headed back up the Kerry Ridgeway to Bishops Moat, down to Cefn Einion on to Mardu back to Newcastle, where lunch was served at the village hall and the raffle was drawn.
Mr Watkins thanked everyone who helped in some way, especially Carol Hudson who chose the charity of the Clun Valley AED Scheme.
Marian Pugh, who is a practice nurse at Clun Surgery, spoke about the Clun Valley AED Scheme and the importance of having access to defibrillators.
So far organisers of the event have said that they have raised £1,500 for the Clun & District Defibrillators fund.
