A shearling ewe from the Dovery flock of J J Comer and C Simpson, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, took the top call of 1,000gns at Welshpool at the end of August for the Blue Texel Sheep Society’s Show and Sale.

Dovery Glamorous is by Nantyderri Flashy Lad and is out of Dovery Ellie, a daughter of a Hackney ram. She caught the eye of W E Evans, Llanrwst, Conwy.

Next best in the shearling ewe offering were two females sharing a 700gns price tag, the first being Glan-Y-Mor Gingerbread, the pre-sale champion tapped out by Sally Lloyd of the Stonycroft flock. By Sams Dynamite, she’s out of a homebred female by Turbo Blue Appledoorn and was knocked down to Sioned Mair, Llanrwst, Conwy.

At the same money was the best from Cary Howells, Llangadog, Carmarthenshire, in the form of Caryl’s Blues Goldielocks. By an imported sire, this one is out of a Beili Blues Peter homebred daughter. She sold to S H Hamplett, Stafford, Staffordshire.

Shearling rams met a top call of 825gns for the reserve male champion, Littlebrook Geronimo from Sophie Long, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire. By Beaconsview Flash Harry, this one is out of a New Breach daughter of Millend Whirlwind. He sold to I D and S B James, Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

Another from the same pen, Littlebrook Grand Designs, then sold for 650gns. By the imported sire Littlebrook Brucie Bonus, he’s out of Nantyderri sired homebred dam and was knocked down to A H Lloyd and Son, Knighton, Powys.

Ewe lambs met a top call of 650gns for C J’s Hannah from Cameron Cormack and Gaynor McDowell, Tilton On The Hill, Leicestershire. By the Irish sire, Londesborough Comengetme, she’s out of Hackney Yvonne, a Whatmore Siren daughter and sold to I W and F A Evans, Llanfechain, Powys.
