TEAMS of Young Farmers Club members from across Wales recently converged on the Princess Royal Theatre, Port Talbot for their annual Entertainment Feast which was staged over two days.

Each year the genre rotates between drama, pantomime and entertainment and showcases the immense resources of talent, in both English and Welsh, within the movement.

For many budding actors and actresses this obviously offers an unique opportunity to perform on a professional stage with state-of-the-art facilities and with the advice, assistance and encouragement from experienced stage managers.

This year clubs were challenged to put on a 30 minute programme of original entertainment material and, after winning their own county competitions, perform at the Wales final before the judges: Sue Doherty (English) and Iwan John (Welsh).

On this occasion seven counties presented an English programme and six performed in Welsh with the winners being Montgomery and Ceredigion respectively.

In the English presentations Montgomery gained highest marks for both originality and entertainment value, variety and balance, Glamorgan for effectiveness of costume, set and props and Pembrokeshire for overall effect.

Glamorgan were runners-up and Charles George (Pembrokeshire) was awarded a trophy for the best actor.

Montgomery now go on to perform at the England and Wales final during the NFYFC annual convention to be held in Torquay at the end of April.

In the Welsh section Ceredigion were awarded high marks for overall effect, originality and entertainment value, Carmarthen also scored well for overall effect and Montgomery topped with their effectiveness of costume, set and props.

Carmarthen were runners-up and Dewi Jenkins (Ceredigion) was judged the best actor.
