THIS year’s Royal Welsh Show had a silver lining for a stalwart volunteer.
Long-standing steward Terry Clarke received an honorary silver medal in recognition for their outstanding lifetime contribution to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
“We are forever grateful for the hard work and dedication of all the stewards and volunteers involved with the society,” said Steve Hughson, Chief Executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
“In excess of 1,500 people give up their time to sit on committees, join the county advisory groups, fundraise and generally help out with the society events, this is the ‘gold-dust’ that makes our show so special.
“The presentation of our honorary society awards is a way for us to show our appreciation to those that have given exceptional service to the society for many years.”
Terry started as a steward at the Royal Welsh in 1989 and at the Winter Fair in 1990. He recently announced his retirement as chairman of the livestock committee, a position he has held for 15 years.
Other honorary awards presented at the show this year included three honorary life memberships, six honorary life governorships and an honorary life vice-presidency.
