A Minion, cows and emojis are among some of the scenes to be spotted in the Gwent countryside recently.
Local YFCs in the county have been busy creating fantastic eye-catching statues made out of hay bales. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re out and about for one of these show-stopping pieces of art…
During #NationalYoungFarmersWeek recently Gwent YFC ran a bale art competition for members to promote the clubs and to encourage new members to join.
The aim was to publicise the range of activities on offer to people with or without an agricultural background – ranging from drama, sport, public speaking, stock judging, training, quizzes and socialising to name but a few.
Judge Rebecca Green awarded first place to Usk YFC for their tractor and Minion design.
There are six clubs within Gwent, which include 300-plus members who meet on a weekly basis.
Gwent YFC senior member of the year Laura Baker said: “Joining young farmers was the best thing I ever did. If you want to make new friends, learn new skills and have a lot of fun, then join your local club, you won’t regret it.”
If you are aged between 10 and 26 email the Gwent YFC office via gwent@yfc-wales.org.uk for more information or to find your local club.
