A SLIMMER who transformed his life by losing six stone is using his experience to help others achieve their weight loss dreams.

Jon Sladden, sales assistant at Vaughans in Haverfordwest dropped from 20st to 14st when he joined his local Slimming World group in Haverfordwest 15 months ago.

Jon's motivation for joining Slimming World was twofold, in 2017 he was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis (policeman’s heel) and damaged his knee leading to a gout condition.

Then in October 2017 his cousin Dave died suddenly of a heart attack.

"He was in his early 50s and overweight, and as I was nearing his age and also overweight," said Jon.

His wife, Mair, was already a member and he went along to the group with her.

Jon believes that the support and help of others was what encouraged him to stick to his weight loss goals.

"Support is the most important thing and I couldn’t have lost six stone without the weekly help, encouragement and understanding of my own group," he said.

Now he is opening his own group in Clarbeston Road.

“It’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me, so that I can give my members the support they need to get to target," said Jon.

"I couldn’t believe I’d found a way to lose weight enjoying a varied diet and being able to eat my favourite food, such as steak and roast dinners," he added.

Like Jon, Slimming World consultants are all former or current members who have lost weight at their local group themselves.

There are currently around 4,000 Slimming World Consultants across the UK and Ireland running 15,000 groups.

Jon’s Slimming World group will be held at Clarbeston Road Memorial Hall every Monday at 7pm from April 22.
