Newcastle Emlyn Sheepdog Trials donating to charities

CHEQUES totalling £1,000 have been presented to charity following successful sheepdog trials at Cilfallen, Cwmcou, in August.

Members of Newcastle Emlyn Sheepdog Trials presented the cheques at their annual dinner recently.

Donations were made this year to two worthy charities – Diabetes UK Cymru, (£500) and the DPJ Foundation (£500).

Eirian Jones from Diabetes UK Cymru thanked the committee for the donation and spoke to the members about the charity.

Unfortunately a representative of the DPJ Foundation was unable to be present but sent their appreciation for the support, as all the money will go direct to supporting those in the agricultural community of Wales with poor mental health.

The raffle was also drawn and prizes were won by the following 1st J Bunner, 2nd S Jones, 3rd W Williams, 4th E Davies.

The committee thanked everyone who ensured that the trial was once again a success, including Mrs Margaret Evans, Cilfallen, Cwmcou, where the trials were held again this year. Also thanked were sheepdog handlers, the judge Emyr Lloyd, timekeeper Gerry Hazelby, committee members and supporters and those who made donations including the president for 2019 Mr Towyn Evans; NCE mayor Cllr Alan Jones and mayoress Joe Jones, and trial sponsors Windgen Blaenbowi Ltd, Nock Dayton, Michael Millward, and Clunderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers Ltd.
