Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society has a ‘new look’ role up for grabs.

New for 2020, the society has developed the role of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society ambassador to take slightly different approach – it’s open to both male and female applicants for the first time.

Previously the role has been held by a woman, which came about following the change to the lady ambassador title.

Applications are now invited for the role of ambassador to represent the society throughout the year and during its flagship event, Pembrokeshire County Show, which takes place from August 18-20.

Jan Pearce, society chief executive, said: “In order to fulfil the role successfully, the applicant must have excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm to carry out the required duties. Knowledge of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society and the County Show is desirable.”

She continued: “The ambassador will be invited to visit all sections of the show during the three days and to visit various sponsors and trade stand exhibitors on the showground. in addition to this, you will be a guest at the presidents’ luncheon daily and be present during the various award presentations throughout the duration of the show.

“The wide and varied annual programme of activities offered for the ambassador will provide an enjoyable experience and hopefully encourage the successful applicant to continue to support and promote the society and show in the future.”

Lorna Richards was the 2019 ambassador and she described the role as ‘really enjoyable.’

“You get involved with a lot more than just the three days of the show; there's loads of events throughout the year to get on board with and help out at. It's been a great year.”

Lorna recommends applying.

“I would recommend people apply as it's a very varied role and one I have been pleased to be a part of. It's not just the three days of the show as some people might think, and it's great to see all the hard work that the Society does through the year.”

The selection will be carried out by a panel of judges.

Applicants must reside in the county and must have attained their 16th birthday before June 1, 2019 and be 30 years of age or under on September 1, 2020.

Application forms for the role are available from lucy.parr@pembsshow.org

Closing date is March 2 and the successful applicant must be available to attend the PAS annual general meeting on March 25.
