PLANS for the redevelopment of Aberporth Village Hall are due to be put before residents at a special consultation meeting early next month.
The village hall charity has been drawing up draft sketches following an intensive community survey last summer.
The survey revealed that villagers wanted the hall to remain at the same location and have the same amount of space but that they wanted to see it modernised.
Top of the improvements wish list were new toilets, better heating and an updated kitchen.
Villagers were also very attached to the 80-year-old hall, saying it was “historic” and “iconic”.
An in-depth structural survey was also carried out last summer which discovered that the main hall’s steel frame was showing signs of corroding.
The hall committee has been working towards improving the hall for the past two decades – but past schemes have failed to bear fruit for various reasons.
This time hall trustees are confident that they have come up with a workable solution and want as many residents as possible to have an input.
Presentations will be held on the survey and structural reports plus trustees will be on hand to answer any questions. Light refreshments will be served.
The meeting will be held at the village hall on Thursday, March 5 at 6.30pm. A warm welcome to all.
