SECONDARY schools across Ceredigion – including those in Cardigan and Llandysul – have already made more than 300 face visors for medical staff fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Staff at Ysgol Bro Teifi and Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi, as well as Ysgol Bro Pedr and Ysgol Penglais, have been hard at work on the schools’ 3-D printers.

These face-visors provide much needed protection for frontline NHS workers in the Hywel Dda area and plans are in place to produce another 2,000 of this vital personal protection equipment.

At Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi, Emyr James, head of the design faculty, has been hard at work producing the visors, and the school's Facebook site posted a picture of nurses at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen wearing the equipment.

"We are so happy to be able to help in this small way. Thank you for everything you are doing," said the school

At Llandysul, the school's Facebook site said: "While the school is closed, we have decided to use the school's resources to create visors fro frontline workers during this difficult time.

"Thank you Mr Walters for joining this important campaign. Along with Ysgol Bro Pedr, Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi and Ysgol Penglais School among others, we hope to produce hundreds of these important devices. Well done everyone."

Meinir Ebbsworth, corporate lead officer for schools at Ceredigion County Council said: “We are extremely grateful to our staff who are using their expertise and school equipment to help others.”

“Ceredigion County Council is proud of the contribution that our schools are making during this difficult and challenging times, and to all our staff and volunteers who have shown such goodwill to help others.”
