VIDEO-conferencing facilities have been installed in council-run care homes across Ceredigion so residents can stay in touch with loved ones during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Yr Hafod in Cardigan is one of the homes making use of the technology, along with Bryntirion, Tregaron; Cartref Tregerddan, Bow Street; Min y Môr, Aberaeron and Hafan Deg, Lampeter

Ceredigion County Council said it is important of to keep in touch during this challenging time of self-isolation and appreciates that it is difficult for families who unare able to visit their loved ones at its care homes.

A spokesperson said: “Our committed staff are doing an amazing job supporting and caring for our residents, and in order to give our residents that additional reassurance whilst keeping them safe, video-conferencing facilities have been installed at all of our care homes.”

The first resident to try the video-conferencing was Mair Davies from Hafan Deg. Jên Dafis, her daughter, said: “Thank you for your co-operation. I was very pleased to see Mam.”

Care homes are currently contacting relatives to advise and to arrange video conferences. Sessions can be booked by contacting the council’s customer services team on 01545 570881.
