Daffodil growers in Pembrokeshire are looking forward to their big day on March 1 and have been busy preparing to get their harvest to shops over the past few weeks.
Puffin Produce oversees around 130 acres of land where somewhere around 18 million blooms are grown, cut and tied into bunches each year.
Around 25 varieties are grown, including St Keverne, Standard Value and Tamara, and even a variety called Cardiff.
The flowers are picked when the buds are still tight, collected from the fields within an hour or two and transported to a cold store – any warmth would encourage the flowerheads to bloom – and they’re ready to ship to retailers within a couple of days.
