NFU Cymru has produced a suite of eye-catching, bilingual field signs for members to order or download, to help educate the public about what Welsh farmers grow in their fields.

Launched at the beginning of the summer holidays, the field signs utilise positive, educational messaging in order to help farmers communicate with the public about what is growing, grazing or happening in their fields.

They also give the public the chance to learn more about where their food comes from by scanning the QR code on each sign.

NFU Cymru president John Davies said: “Welsh farmers are proud to care for the countryside and farmed landscapes, which we are all able to enjoy. Over the coronavirus pandemic, our farmed landscape has provided much needed respite for urban dwellers and helped to improve physical and mental health.

“With the school summer holidays undoubtedly bringing more visitors out to the countryside, we wanted to equip members with the tools to educate and inform those who may never have visited a farm before.

"We wanted a way to show that the food grown in a particular field is used to put food on our plates and we hope these signs will allow the public to take a moment to appreciate this.

“It’s great to see people out enjoying the countryside and I hope these signs will also remind everyone to stick to the footpaths and appreciate the crops, landscape and animals from the designated footpath.”
