DESPITE scorching temperatures that saw Wales engulfed in a stifling heat wave and the nation recording its hottest day on record this week, Princess Anne was coolness personified as she attended the Royal Welsh Show on Tuesday.
The Princess Royal completed three royal visits in just one day, including two events just over the border in Herefordshire.
And despite the searing conditions and busy schedule, the 71-year-old, who was named the hardest-working member of the royal family in 2021, made the trip while the Met Office put out red and amber heat warnings across the UK.
Wales endured its hottest day on record on Monday after the Met Office revealed Hawarden in Flintshire experienced temperatures of 37.1C. Yet Princess Anne was spotted laughing and joking at the iconic agriculture event, meeting bearskin-wearing Welsh Guards.
She also joked about joining Dragons RFC, the Newport-based professional rugby side. Dragons shared the encounter on Twitter and claimed she had even offered her availability.
“Welcome to newest Dragons RFC supporter Princess Anne who joins the #DragonsFamily,” the club tweeted.
“Great to see the Princess Royal in attendance @royalwelshshow today and offering her availability. Think she was impressed with our new merchandise and asked us, ‘if we needed any new players’, she said, ‘she was available if she was needed’.”
