Show season is in full swing in Powys, as various annual events made their long-awaited returns after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Having cancelled shows in 2020 and 2021, Llanfyllin, Guilsfield and Montgomery were among the latest towns and villages to welcome the return of their annual agricultural shows last weekend.
Guilsfield Show made its return on Friday, August 12, followed by Llanfyllin and Montgomery which both hosted shows on Saturday, August 13.
Guilsfield kicked off the weekend as Fron Y Fele Field, Groeslwyd, hosted a variety of competitions, stalls, arts and crafts, classic cars and a wide range of trade stands.

Show committee chair Matthew Kneale said: "It has been another bumper show with a real mixture of entertainment, trade stands and events.
“With such fantastic weather the field was full of cars for most of the day, with many people remaining to support the local artists performing in the early evening.
“It’s great to be back after the absence due to Covid. We really are grateful to the thousands of locals and visitors alike who have attended one of the several events that make up the show week.”

The next day, it was Llanfyllin’s turn to welcome people for its own annual event.
The 2022 Llanfyllin and District Agricultural and Horticultural Show, with a record-breaking number of attendees turning up.
With its own set of competitions, stalls and craft demonstrations, the show also featured entertainment from the Atkinson Action Horses stunt and display team, who gave two performances in the main ring.

Show Chairman Dyfrig Jones said: “All in all, it was a very successful show and my thanks to go out to everyone who supported the event in any way and to all the people who attended on the day.”
Sian Lewis, first time show secretary, added: “It was a very successful day and great to see people coming together again after a two-year absence. The feedback was very positive, especially from people who had trade stands.”
Montgomery Show also emerged from its pandemic hibernation on the same day with its 2022 event.
The show began with a carnival procession through the town and went on to feature a vintage vehicle rally, children’s competitions as well as a wide variety of agricultural and horticultural crafts on display.
