Three Powys businesses have been shortlisted for the prestigious Countryside Alliance awards
Izzy's in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, has been nominated for the best Butchers, The Royal Oak in Welshpool is uup for best pub whilst Ty Cemaes in Machynlleth has been nominated for best Village Shop / Post Office
Dubbed, the ‘Rural Oscars’ the awards celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile, support their local economy and are the unsung heroes in every community.
The businesses are judged on a range of criteria including their passion and commitment, sense of community, championing local food and the energy and diversity of their business.
Judging will take place via a public vote, and the winners will be announced in Cardiff in January. The successful businesses will then go forward to compete against winners from across the country in the grand final.
Countryside Alliance Wales Director Rachel Evans said: “We have been overwhelmed by nominations this year, with so many worthy businesses being sent in by the Welsh public. Every business has an important story to tell and it’s so important that is recognised.”
