One of mid Wales' most popular natural beauty spot will be closed from the end of July to allow for trees infected with ash dieback to be felled.

Warren Wood, near New Radnor will be shut off to the public for safety reasons this week months after the popular tourist attraction Water-Break-its-Neck waterfall closed due to the presence of the chronic fungal disease found in ash trees.

Natural Resources Wales, which cares for the woodland, has not said when Warren Wood will reopen to the public.

"The car park and trails at Warren Wood will be closed from the end of July to allow for trees infected with ash dieback to be felled safely," Natural Resources Wales said.

"If left alone, infected trees could risk public safety by toppling onto the boardwalk.

"During the closure, we will also upgrade parts of the boardwalk, ready for visitors to return."

Warren Wood has been popular with tourists for more than 200 years because of the spectacular waterfall that has gained in even more popularity due to videos on TikTok.

Warren Wood is named after the rabbit warren which once provided a source of food, and this part of Radnor Forest, has seen huge changes over the centuries.

The Victorian landowners created a forest in the popular picturesque style by planting trees on the moorland.
