Welshpool will be welcoming a unique livestock event as it plays host to the Welsh Alpaca Show for the second year in a row.

On Saturday, October 21, the Welshpool Livestock Market will be filled with alpacas of all shapes and sizes, as the show returns following its successful debut at the venue in 2022.

The first show was held in 2019 and was followed by an absence in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hundreds of alpacas will be arriving at the livestock market from 9am onwards for the show, which is open to the public.

As many as 120 alpacas are expected to be competing in categories of colour and age, all hoping to be awarded by the show judge Barbara Hetherington.

A selection of trade stalls will also be at the show, as well as several experts on the animals who will reportedly be happy to introduce members of the public to the animals as they make a rare appearance at Welshpool Livestock Market.

Visitors are asked to pay an entry fee of £2 per person, with all proceeds going towards the Royal Benevolent Agricultural Institution, a charity providing local support to the farming community across England and Wales.

Organisers of the event would also like to remind visitors that no dogs are allowed at the show.
