A TOTAL of six businesses across Gwynedd and Anglesey have all received a 2023-24 “Good Food Award”.

The Good Food Awards, also known as the “Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes”, are awarded to those who excel in food quality, service, and value.

From Gwynedd and Anglesey, the winners were as follows:

  • The Midland Tapas and Wine Bar in Beaumaris – Gold Seal award.
  • The Big Rock Cafe in Porthmadog – Blue Ribbon award.
  • Garden Hotel and Cantonese Restaurant in Bangor – Gold Seal award.
  • Y Sgwar in Tremadog – Gold Seal award.
  • Bistro Bermo in Barmouth - Gold Seal award.
  • Finneys, Benllech – Blue Ribbon award.

The Blue Ribbon award is given to those with high customer ratings/votes, while Gold Seal is bestowed on those achieving consistently high customer ratings/votes across a three-year period.

The Midland prides itself on its authentic and modern gourmet tapas dishes, with seasonal specials based on North Wales produce.

You can eat lunch, dinner, get something to share, or enjoy a glass of Cava or a cocktail.

The Garden Hotel and Cantonese Restaurant is located in the centre of Bangor, with a private function suite which can be reserved for special occasions and events such as weddings or birthdays.

It is open from Tuesday to Saturday and also provides a takeaway service.

Y Sgwar has a slate floor, original stone fireplace and stone archway, and can seat 70 people, with all meals home-cooked and ingredients sourced from North Wales.

Deciding the winners is based largely on customer feedback/votes and online reviews.
