NFU Cymru has chosen the Multiple Sclerosis Society Cymru as its chosen charity for 2013.

NFU Cymru plans to organise and take part in various events around Wales to help raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis Society Cymru.

Mary James, director of NFU Cymru, said: “All the staff, from across Wales, were unanimous that Multiple Sclerosis Society Cymru deserved recognition for its work and our help in fundraising this year. We hope NFU Cymru members from across the country will help us raise as much money as possible through events and collections for this very worthwhile cause.”

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition of the central nervous system. Normally diagnosed in people between the ages of 20 and 40, they have MS for life, but recently developed treatments and MS specialists can help manage the symptoms. No one knows the cause and a cure is yet to be found, but the MS Society is funding research which is helping scientists to reverse the damage caused by MS.

Joseph Carter, director of the MS Society Cymru said: “The organisation’s fundraising support will enable us to continue to offer help and hope for the 10,000 people affected by MS in Wales and help fund crucial research to beat MS. This partnership will also offer us the opportunity to raise the profile and understanding of the condition.”

NFU Cymru also supported the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) awareness week cake break appeal which aimed to raise more than £300,000 for MS research on May 3rd.
